A West Village townhouse kitchen built around a Thermador ME302YS double wall oven. The homeowner — an avid home cook — noticed that baking results had become unpredictable: cakes were browning unevenly, roasts taking 20% longer than expected. The oven was clearly running cold.
An oven thermometer confirmed the lower oven was running 35°F below its set temperature. The diagnosis pointed to two issues: a partially failed bake element (one leg had fractured internally, reducing output) and a temperature sensor that had drifted out of calibration.
We replaced the bake element and the temperature sensor with Thermador OEM components. The oven was calibrated and verified accurate to within 5°F across three temperature settings. Both cavities were tested — the upper oven was found to be within spec.
Temperature inconsistency is the most common complaint we hear about wall ovens. It's almost always a bake element or sensor — both straightforward repairs when done with the right parts. Serving West Village and all Manhattan neighborhoods. (212) 282-9858.
